Quotas (Decoy Mail Agent): My Fourth Payment

I like this job as it requires simple work. I get the mail, go to the website of Quotas and enter the codes on the test letters including date of receipt. Most letters carry transponders and these should be sent back to Germany on postage paid envelopes provided by the company. Since there is a post box 20 meters from my home this is not a big deal (you only have to send the transponders back when you have accumulated at least two).

Payment

Payment is made by gift checks from popular retailers in Belgium such as Hema, Inno, Dreamland, Halfords. Quota is very prompt in sending €10 gift certificates that you redeem from popular retailers. A the end of each month, I get the certificate link that I can redeem for gift cards. To date, I have received my fourth gift certificate (HEMA). I like this part-time mini data entry (hardly) job. It does not need a lot of thought, more like data entry and posting mails.

How the Globoforce gift certificates work

Simply clink on the link and shop for GCs that you are interested in, add to cart, apply your GCs from Quotas and you're all set up.

Appiration - Earn Money Testing iPhone and iPad Apps

I found Appiration on Craigslist Belgium and applied. They accept applicants from most countries.

Registration

To sign-up, you just have to put a valid email address and your iTunes country. You set up your account by providing your username, password and ticking the devices that you want to test such as iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Reviews

Once a new app is available for testing, you will receive an email. You just follow the link and test the app. Reviews must be written within 12 hours.

Payment

You get €0.50 for each app review that you submit plus the cost of the app. Payments are made through PayPal.

Whenever I check on apps, it always says that there are no apps to review at the moment. I did get an email saying that they are still making sure that the use of their website and reviews made are not in violation of any Apple rules. They also want to make sure that app reviews are real.

Update: There was 1 app available for me for review this week. It costs € 1.79 - € 1.29 for the app and €.50 for the review.
Another app available - Monkey Adventure HD and Bowling Game 3D for iPad. Bottom line is, I get at least 3 apps to test and review each week so it shouldn't be too difficult to earn something from apps testing.

Wikio Experts Cashout Reduced to €10

Effective today, Wikio writers can request for payment when total earnings reach €10. It used to be €50. Payment schedules (beginning of the following month) remain the same.

On the same note, they have stopped accepting non-native English writers to improve the quality of articles on the site. There were issues regarding 'moderation' of work because lots of published articles have missing articles, misspelled words, hanging sentences and so on - things that should have been caught in the editing process.

Authors also began writing under pen names for fear of earning a bad reputation when their real names are attached to the so called 'butchered' articles.

I share the same sentiment as these writers and when I check on articles that have been approved, I see errors on most of them. Very few escaped reworking and shifting of sentences and paragraphs. I would like to see real editing to take place when articles are reviewed for approval because I am sure that I make mistakes myself no matter how many times I proofread my work or pass it through spell checkers.

Way With Words Group

Similar sites to Scribie.com is the Way With Words Group. Not exactly the same because the requirements and qualifications to become a transcriber are different.

Way With Words is a UK/South Africa company that accepts English transcribers from all over the world.

Essentials:

1. high-speed internet connection
2. computer
3. commitment of at least 20 hours per week
4. MS messenger ID
5. typing speed of at least 50wpm

Types of transcription files:

medical reports
legal transcription
academic files
media files
workshops
training sessions

The most important aspect is that you pass a 2-part test consisting of an English proficiency test and a transcription test (Britney and Justin). The audio test apparently consists of three rounds.

The first part of the test was really difficult and I cannot imagine people would actually speak in such a manner. The homepage states that only 2% to 5% of applicants make it through the first phase. I believe this since I failed the test. It gave me a headache reading and rereading the 12 multiple choice sentences. The paragraphs were even worse and frankly, I did not think at that time that it was the kind of transcription work that I would like to do.

I sped through the exam knowing fully well that I will fail. But then, this is a professional company and I guess, I am not just meant to do transcription work as a source of income.

However, for professional transcribers, this is a good opportunity to earn a decent amount of money. The pay rate is from $30 to $45 per hour of transcribed files. I just thought that this could be an opportunity for others who are already into transcription or have been trained to do specific transcription work.

Wikio Pays

Lately, I have been adopting a wait and see attitude with Wikio Experts. I like writing for the site because the topics are fun and I can choose to write them whenever I have the time. If I cannot meet the 72 hour deadline, I just give up the title or let the timer run. Although article approvals in the last week have been slow, I was content to claim and write a few in the last weeks.

The forum is quite active and even if I know that I could email support for the moderation of articles, approvals are more likely to happen than rejections. At some point, I wanted to wait that earnings made in May would be paid before proceeding further.

Now, I am glad that I continued writing for Wikio enabling me to request cashout the 1st of July. I was PAID today for payment requested on June 1, 2011.

This confirms that Wikio Experts PAY as promised. There is no doubt in my mind that I will continue to provide web content for the site. At the same time, I intend to write trial articles for three categories to widen an article base to claim.

Thank you, WIKIO!
